Four important ways to chill out after a tough day
Four important ways to chill out after a tough dayFour important ways to chill out after a tough dayWhen something super embarrassing happens to you at work, or you flubbed a big presentation because your boss didnt buy into your vision, its easy to want to crawl into a hole when 5pm rolls around. But multiply that feeling by many days, and you see your life slipping away into stress and anxiety. Why choose that when you can choose a happier path?Heres how to decompress after a rough day in the office.Practice mindfulness on your commuteChris Plehal writes about avoiding distractionin a Headspace article about practicing mindfulness on your commute. When you enter the train, listen to the sounds around you. Where are people talking? Where are they quiet? Do your best to find a distribution policy away from conversations, loud children, or music. Dont worry too much about the train noises or announcements at this point. Just find the quietest place you can, Plehal writes. So what can you do?Maria Gonzalez provides specific practices you can adopt while driving to and from work in a Harvard Business Review article. To use your daily driving commute to help you practice conscious thinking and improve your mindfulness, start by getting into the car and acknowledging the intention that you aspire to be mindful during the commute. Take a few deep breaths. Once buckled up, but before you start to drive, become aware of your body. Feel your hands on the steering wheel, the contour of your body on the seat, your foot on the pedal. Make an effort to be aware of the body and feel present. Start to drive and notice that you are looking as you drive through your windshield, into your mirrors. Now become aware that you are listening. Notice the sounds you hear, Gonzalez writes.Crack open that book you meant to readWith all the staringwe doat our computer screens everyday, we dont get a lot of time away from technology. It can be tempting to scrub Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat from top to bottom when youre trying to distract yourself, but agood story can help take your mind off of whatever is stressing you out by getting you involved in emotions deeply. The catharsis helps you move on.When you finally make it back home, head to a room where you can enjoy reading in silence. If yourhome is loud because thekids are running around or someones blasting music outside your apartment, consider heading to a local library or sitting in a park with a good read before the sun goes down.Turn your phone offLike Mark Twain said about the weather, we often talk about turning our phones off but we rarely do anything about it. Really turn it off. Maybe even go an extra step and leave it in another room for moreclarity, so that you have to walk to get to it.Were so into what our phones provide that we can emotionally connect to them, but we dont have to after a rough day. Spending time away fromyour phone screen will give you the mental space needed to reflect andmove forw ard.Put things into perspectiveOne of our tendencies when things go badly is to assume theyll go badly forever. We picture a future in which one mistake rebounds on us forever. This is rarely the case nothing is permanent, and momentary pain or agony passes. Fahd Pasha writes about how its not the end of the world in an article for Monster Canada. This might be the most important thing Ive learned from having a bad day. It may seem that everything is daunting and you might feel that youre stuck in a rut. However, this likely isnt the first time youve been faced with a challenge, and remember, you can get through it. Its helpful to take a deep breath and remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day, Pasha writes.Seeing the bright side and changing your mindset is a practice. Instead of seeing every dicke bretter bohren mssen as what fresh hell is this? instead see it as an opportunity to learn and do better. Instead of personalizing everything as a referendum on your personal capability , stand back and evaluate what it all means. All of our experience is just information we can use.And remember this your state of mind is always in your hands. How you recover aftera long, a tough day at work can set you up for either unhappiness or success the next morning. Why not choose success?

10 Tips for Effective Employee Performance Reviews
10 Tips for Effective Employee Performance Reviews10 Tips for Effective Employee Performance ReviewsAre you interested in tips about how to make wertzuwachs reviews successful in your organization? While performance review methods and approaches differ from organization to organization, universal principles about how to talk with an employee about his or zu sich performance exist. Whetzu sichbei its a performance review, a salary adjustment meeting, or the implementation of a performance improvement plan (PIP), these tips will help you mora confidently lead the meeting. These tips are applicable in your daily conversations with employees. They are also critical in your periodic, formal meetings with employees to discuss job goals and performance. These ten tips will help you make performance reviews positive and motivational. They will improve- not deflate- your ability to interact with your reporting employees. Performance Review Tips The employee should never hear about positiv e performance or performance in need of improvement for the first time at your formal performance discussion meetingunless it is new information or insight. Effective managers discuss both positive performance and areas for improvement regularly, even daily or weekly. Aim to make the contents of the performance review discussion a re-emphasis of critical points. In the interest of providing regular feedback, performance reviews are not an annual event. Quarterly meetings are recommended with employees. In one mid-sized company, job planning and evaluation occurs twice a year. Career development planning for employees is also scheduled twice a year, so the employee discusses his or her job and career, formally, four times a year. No matter the components of your performance review process, the first step is goal setting. It is imperative that the employee knows exactly what is expected of his or her performance. Your periodic discussions about performance need to focus on these signi ficant portions of the employees job. You need to document this job plan goals and expectations in a job plan or job expectations format, or in your employers format. Without a written agreement and a shared picture of the employees goals, success for the employee is unlikely. During preparation and goal setting, you need to make how you will evaluate the employees performance clear. Describe exactly what youre looking for from the employee and exactly how you will assess the performance. Discuss with the employee her role in the evaluation process. If your organizations performance review process includes an ?employee self-evaluation, share the form and talk about what self-evaluation entails. Sharing Performance Review Format Make sure that you also share the performance review format with the employee, so she is not surprised at the end of the performance review time period. A significant component of this evaluation discussion is to share with the employee how your organizat ion will assess performance. The employee needs to understand that if he does what is expected, he will be considered a performing employee. In some organizations that rank employees, this is the equivalent of a three on a five-point scale. An employee must do more than just perform to be considered an outstanding employee. Avoid the horns and halo effect in which everything discussed in the meeting involves positive and negative recent events. Recent events color your judgment of the employees performance. Instead, you are responsible for documenting positive occurrences such as completed projects, and negative occurrences such as a missed deadline, during the entire period of time that the performance review covers. In some organizations, these are called critical incident reports. Ask the employee to do the same so that together you develop a comprehensive look at the employees performance during the time period that your discussion covers. Solicit Feedback Solicit feedback f rom colleagues who have worked closely with the employee. Sometimes called 360-degree feedback because you are obtaining feedback for the employee from his boss, coworkers, and any reporting staff, you use the feedback to broaden the performance information that you provide for the employee. Start with informal discussions to obtain feedback information. Consider developing a format so that the feedback is easy to digest and share with the manager. If your company uses a form that you fill out in advance of the meeting, give the performance review to the employee in advance of the meeting. This allows the employee to digest the contents before her discussion of the details with you. This simple gesture can remove a lot of the emotion and drama from the performance review meeting. Preparing for a Discussion Prepare for the discussion with the employee. Never go into a performance review without preparation. If you wing it, performance reviews fail. You will miss key opportunities for feedback and improvement, and the employee will not feel encouraged about his successes. The documentation that you maintained during the performance review period serves you well as you prepare for an employees performance review. If needed, practice approaches with your Human Resources staff, a colleague, or your manager. Jot notes with the main points of feedback. Include bullet points that clearly illustrate the point you plan to make to the employee. The more you can identify patterns and give examples, the better the employee will understand and be able to act upon the feedback. Meeting With an Employee When you meet with the employee, spend time on the positive aspects of his or her performance. In most cases, the discussion of the positive components of the employees performance should take up more time than that of the negative components. For your above average performing employees and your performing employees, positive feedback and discussion about how the emplo yee can continue to grow her performance should comprise the majority of the discussion. The employee will find this rewarding and motivating. No employees performance is completely negative- if so, why does the employee still work for your organization? But, dont neglect the areas that need improvement either. Especially for an underperforming employee, speak directly and dont mince words. If you are not direct, the employee will not understand the seriousness of the performance situation. Use examples from the whole time period covered by the performance review. Conversation is Key to a Productive Performance Meeting The spirit in which you approach this conversation will make the difference in whether it is effective. If your intention is genuine, to help the employee improve, and you have a positive relationship with the employee, the conversation is easier and more effective. The employee has to trust that you want to help him improve his performance. He needs to hear you s ay that you have confidence in his ability to improve. This helps him believe that he has the ability and the hilfe necessary to improve. Conversation is the keyword when you define a performance review meeting. If you are doing all of the talking or the meeting becomes a lecture, the performance review is less effective. The employee will feel as if he was yelled at and treated unjustly. This is not how you want employees feeling as they leave their performance reviews. You want an employee who is motivated and excited about his ability to continue to grow, develop, and contribute. Aim for performance review meetings in which the employee talks more than half of the time. You can encourage this conversation by asking questions such as these. What do you expect to be the most challenging about your goals for this quarter? What support can the department provide for you that will help you reach these goals? What are your hopes for your achievements at our company this year? How can I be a better manager for you?How often would you like to receive feedback? What kind of schedule can we set up so that you dont feel micromanaged, but I receive the feedback that I need as to your progredienz on your goals? What would be a helpful agenda for our weekly one-on-one meetings? If you take these performance review tips to heart and practice these recommendations in your performance review meetings, you will develop a significant tool for your management tool bag. The performance review can enhance your relationship with employees, improve performance for your organization, and enhance employee-manager communication significantly- a boon for customers and work relationships. A Look at Gender Discrimination Against Women
A Look at Gender Discrimination Against Women A Look at Gender Discrimination Against Women Discrimination against women starts at birth. Gender lines are drawn early, and exclusions for women continue throughout adulthood. These constant messages may lead to a false belief that women do not belong in the corporate world. We Are All Born Into a World Filled With Stereotypes From the moment we are conceived, both boys and girls are subjected to stereotypes. The baby aisle in stores is filled with blue blankets and clothes for boys, while adjacent aisles are filled with pink for girls. A few stores (for example, Target) are slowly starting to steer away from gender-focused marketing, but stereotypes still persist. Challenges in the form of discrimination for women begin in childhood as young girls may be brought up to believe that they are only suited for certain professions or, in some cases, only to serve as wives and mothers. Gender lines are drawn early, and exclusions for women continue throughout adulthood. Elementary School Studies show that teachers still give more time and attention in math and science to boys while giving more to girls in language arts. Since math and science are vital skills for many male-dominated professions, like medicine, engineering, and architecture, does this encourage little girls to focus on other areas of learning? The divergence in academic path girls and boys choose after elementary would seem to indicate, yes. Middle and High School Years In middle and high school, girls are more likely than boys to be discouraged from participating in sports, and clubs like debate, math, and science. But girls are more likely to be encouraged to participate in after-school volunteer work, social programs, and more passive activities. College Years After childhood, young women are often encouraged, or even pressured, into pursuing an education in more stereotypical female-oriented professions, like teaching, nursing, caregiving, retail, and office administration. Women are now earning more degrees than men at every level, and with higher grades and honors. But women starting their own businesses are less likely to have a college degree in their specific industry or first-profession degree, than are male entrepreneurs. They are also less likely to get a job in a Ph.D.-related field. Statistics Show Trends Havenât Changed Much More women are starting businesses than men, more women are in the workforce than men, and the majority of degree-holders are now women. Yet, according to the Department of Labor 2007 statistics, women are still only dominating fields and industries that are often seen as âfemale.â According to CNN Money, in 2006, there were only 10 women running Fortune 500 companies, and only 20 in the top 1,000. But itâs a start.

How One Job Seekers Secret to Success Can Be Yours, Too
How One Job Seekers Secret to Success Can Be Yours, Too How One Job Seekers Secret to Success Can Be Yours, Too The rise of applicant tracking systems (ATS), the recruiting software used by 90 percent of businesses to filter and rank resumes, may be helping employers- but it isnt necessarily helping job seekers. The idea behind applicant tracking systems is to help hiring managers select the best applicants from the applicant pool by highlighting the best resumes- and even outright eliminating others. One way an ATS works is by finding resume keywords (specific details related to a job, such as required degrees and technical knowledge) and using that information to gauge which candidates are most qualified. Most job seekers are unaware of applicant tracking systems. This can sometimes lead to qualified applicants being rejected, because their resumes arent written with an ATS in mind. As a result, online resume tools such as Jobscan have emerged to help job seekers understand how to determine which resume keywords are important, and how to optimize their resumes for an ATS. Dwight Gartmon Dwight Gartmon, 31, a freelance music composer for film and TV moved with his family- his wife and three young boys- from California to Arizona six months ago. Moving isnt cheap, so though he had been doing freelance work for more than 15 years, his savings account was dwindling. He had more than a decade of solid customer service experience on his resume, and though he enjoyed the field, he wasnât particularly excited about a tedious and grueling job search. After applying to more than 50 jobs and not receiving enough positive responses or interview opportunities from employers, Gartmon started to read blogs about resumes in search of things he could do to improve his chances. He noticed people mentioning and highly recommending Jobscan, and decided to give it a shot. He said he found Jobscans online resume tool, which directly compares a job seekerâs resume to a specific job and rates how well they match, to be extremely user-friendly and self-explanatory. To use Jobscan, all you need to do is paste your resume and target job posting into the appropriate sections on the Jobscan website, click Scan, and receive a Match Rate. Jobscan recommends aiming for a Match Rate of at least 80 percent. A Jobscan screen capture showing a Match Rate and Skills Comparison. Not only is Jobscan able to predict how successful a resume will be when submitted to an ATS, it highlights which aspects of a resume are working, and which arent. Which skills and keywords are already included Which skills and keywords should be emphasized or prioritized Which skills and keywords are missing Jobscan makes it easy to see where your resume might be lacking. Jobscan provided me with the best advice I couldâve received on how to properly tailor my resume for job applications, Gartmon said. After taking Jobscans recommendations into account and creating tailored resumes for each application, Gartmon immediately landed two job interviews from two different companies. In both cases, he received the replies less than a week after applying. He had actually applied to one of those companies numerous times before using Jobscan, and had no luck. After using Jobscan and landing an interview, Gartmon was hired by that company. He still continues to hear from companies wishing to set up interviews with him and has recommended Jobscan to all his friends and family. âNot only did I save money and time using Jobscan, I gained pride on how I was being reflected in my resumes,â Gartmon said. When asked what advantages he feels Jobscan provides to its users, Gartmon replied: âJobscan is the advantage!â

Work Values, Working From Home, and Personality Tests
Work Values, Working From Home, and Personality Tests Work Values, Working From Home, and Personality Tests Remember the excitement you felt as a kid when you had a snow day? If you live in an area with four seasons, you may have even experienced something similar as an adult. Its a wonderful feeling! Even though you know youll have plenty of work to catch up on when you get back, theres still that thrill you get when you have an unexpected day at home. As days at home become the new normal, thanks to the proliferation of telecommuting arrangements, its time for us to look at how working from home can be combined with personality assessments in order to help employers build better remote workforces. Not every position or industry has the luxury of extending remote work options to employees (think of doctors, lawyers, and construction workers), many employers have embraced telecommuting because it can boost employee productivity â" plus, reduced travel costs and commute times are employee benefits in their own right! Employers appreciate lower overhead, happier workforces, and, in some cases where remote workers are spread across time zones, longer workdays. However, working from home does have its challenges. Here are the biggest struggles that employees face when working from home, as well as some information on how personality assessments can help employers determine which of their employees have the potential to thrive in telecommuting arrangements. 1. Everyones Talking â" But No One Is Saying Anything Communication is said to be one of the biggest problems employees face when working remotely. In a 2014 survey, Software Advice found that 38 percent of respondents said that communication was their top concern when it came to virtual projects. Technology is great, but its not as reliable as in-person communication. It is generally more difficult to interpret or a convey a tone via technological communication. Its easy to misunderstand what someone is trying to say, and that can be very frustrating for the person who is on the other side of the computer. Beyond that, memos, tasks, and important reminders get lost in the shuffle. Twenty-three percent of respondents in that same Software Advice survey said that long email threads were their top communication challenge. Fifteen people going back and forth on a topic can leave the remote employee on the other end wondering just what the heck is going on. How to Fix It: A company intranet, a private Facebook group, or a healthy chat platform can help employees easy access and read important communications. Whether in the office or working from home, quality-oriented, introverted employees who value feedback, structure, and support can especially benefit from company intranets. These systems allow employees to easily refer back to feedback and guidelines from management, which, in turn, helps them do better work. 2. No Two Snowflakes Are Alike There will always be that coworker who rubs you the wrong way. Maybe its the booming voice that constantly distracts you, or the perfectionist tendencies, or the way they insist on reading everything out loud! We can all think of that one person we work with who just knows exactly how to make our eyes twitch. According to an infographic from Officevibe, 70 percent of employees say working with someone they consider a friend is the most critical element of a happy work life. Employees who get along communicate better and can easily understand the joys and stressors of one anothers specific work situations. That same infographic also notes that 74 percent of women and 58 percent of men would turn down higher paying jobs if it meant not getting along with coworkers. This goes to show how important the process of hiring is. You have to know who you are hiring and what their personality tendencies are in order to successfully blend them into your company culture. How to Fix It: After assessing your employees, swap notes! See which employees share values and which shouldnt work in the same department to save you from workplace havoc. For example, an employee who is heavily reliant on quality of work and pays close attention to detail will drive the commerce employee, who sees the bottom line and wants it now, out of their mind. Try pairing an employee who seeks challenges with a creative-minded employee and watch what blooms! Learn Who Your Employees Are! Dont let communication and personality differences hinder your organization from achieving excellence. Put on your analyst hat and get to assessing your workplace. Take a look at personality assessments that can effectively gauge your team and collectively identify who should be teamed with whom in order to create a well-oiled machine. Personality assessments can not only make hiring easier, but they can also help you better understand your employees once youve brought them on board. This is critical when it comes to remote work arrangements. Are you hesitant about using personality tests? Some estimates suggest that 60-70 percent of all job applicants go through personality tests during the hiring process. Employers are seeing the benefit of knowing who works for them and how these people can make the best teams. If you want to weave an intricate web of productive talent both in and outside the workplace, youll need to start by assessing your employees personalities. The struggles of remote work most certainly wont disappear for your employees, but better understanding between employees will bring the company closer to excellence.

PE Application Process
PE Application Process PE Application Process PE Application Process bla bla bla> Jennifer Cooper, RCP Inc., Project Engineer If youre thinking about becoming a professionally licensed engineer, youll want to familiarize yourself with the process. Yes, it is a process and it can become an ordeal if you let it things get away from you like requirements and deadlines. The following five steps will introduce you to the basics of the process, where you can find out more information, and a few tips I learned through the process this winter. 1. State Requirements The first step is to become familiar with your state requirements for licensure. Your state licensing board will be able to provide you with educational and experience requirements, testing dates, reference requirements, application deadlines, fees, and forms. Most of this information can be found on the state boards website. Youll want to become familiar with these requirements and refer back to them often throughout the application process. Tip: If something is unclear or you have questions, dont be afraid to pick up the phone and call state licensing board for clarification. 2. Exams Next, youll need to decide which exam to take. You should take the exam in the area of engineering in which you practice professionally, which may or may not be what you studied as an undergraduate. Some exams offer different afternoon sessions, for example the Mechanical Engineering Exam has three afternoon choices: HVAC and Refrigeration, Mechanical Systems and Materials, Thermal and Fluids Systems. Some exams are offered during both the Spring and fall exam sessions, while some exams are offered only once a year like the Industrial Engineering Exam. To find out when the exams are offered you can visit the NCCES website. If the exam you want to take is only offered once a year, this may affect when you apply. Tip: Some states denote the area the engineer is licensed in upon receipt of a Professional Engineer license; youll need to refer to your state requirements for specifics information during your application process. 3. Deadlines Now that you know your state requirements and that you meet them, youll want to note your states application deadlines for the exam youve picked. I personally recommend not waiting until the deadline to submit your application. A few months before the deadline, youll want to write up a draft of your experience record and application while lining up your application references. Planning ahead also gives you some time to ask for references without rushing your supporters. Tip: Ask someone else to proofread your application and experience record. 4. References References serve to verify the quality and scope of the experience record portion of your record. Different states have different requirements on the number and types of references required. A direct reference is a professionally licensed engineer that youve personally worked with or for on various projects, while a character reference is a professional licensed engineer who simply provides a character reference, if your state allows, or requires character references. Again, youll need to check with your state requirements to see if your state allows or requires reference providers to submit their references directly to the state licensing board or if you must submit everything. Tip: Keeping and updating contact information for engineers youve worked with as you move and change jobs can help in asking for references. 5. Application So the application deadline is approaching, you have your application proofread, and your references completed, its now time to submit the application, pay the fee(s) and play the waiting game. Again, different states have different application procedures (online, hard copy, hybrid), some require an ethics exam, some require a background check, and then there are different fee structures. There is usually an upfront application fee to the state-licensing agency that may or may not include the licensing fee up front (if its not, youll be required to submit this once you pass the exam); there is the exam registration fee to NCEES, and in some states there is an additional professional tax once you are licensed. The waiting to hear back if your application has been approved can be the hardest part but you can keep yourself distracted by studying. Tip: Double-check to make sure all signatures are on your application before you submit it. Having not covered the exam, exam preparation, or continuing education yet, you may be starting to ask yourself why someone would be willing to go through this process. The National Society for Professional Engineers details the many reasons for licensure including prestige, career development, authority, and flexibility. Your industry or employer may require licensure. Others may just encourage you to become licensed and reimburse or pay for licensing fees. The process is worth the ordeal, just start early to avoid headaches and be able to counter act any hiccups you may encounter in the process.

3 Resume Mistakes That Cost You The Job
3 Resume Mistakes That Cost You The Job 3 Resume Mistakes That Cost You The Job âI was beyond frustrated in my job search. I could not get anyone to respond, or talk to me.â You meet all the qualifications stated in the ad; apply, apply, and apply some more; but no one will call you back. And this cycle has happened dozens â" if not hundreds â" of times. Too often this stems from conducting your job search in a habitual manner â" just going through the motions and applying for (most) everything under the sun. Instead, take fewer motions, but make those steps individualized, customized, and more meaningful. Hereâs how to do it: Decide Who You Are (And Who Youâre Not) Let me tell you who youâre not. Youâre not, âhighly organized, detail-oriented and dependable; able to multitask and handle large workloads; a team player whoâs results-focused.â Does that sound normal to you? I defy you to tell me the last time you said anything remotely close to that in a regular conversation. PRO TIP: If the words on your resume could, literally, be on EVERY other personâs resume, regardless of job title or industry, then those words donât need to be on your resume. Use the bar-b-que trick: when youâre at your neighborâs house in the summertime for a bar-b-que, you are likely to get into a conversation with someone new. That conversation can easily veer into, âSo what do you do?â And you know what? You donât sit there and say, âwell, Iâm an excellent multi-tasker with a consistent record of meeting tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.â You say something in plain earthly English, âIâm a sales director for an industrial products manufacturer.â Use the answer you give at the bar-b-que as the starting point for expressing who you are on your resume. Formalized the bar-b-que statement into, âDirector-level sales leader who delivers multi-million-dollar results in the B2B manufacturing sector.â Commit To Doing Some (Real) Research âResearchâ does not mean hopping onto the corporate web site and glancing over the âabout usâ page. If thatâs your process, congratulations! You just found out the exact same information as the next 1,000 people who are applying for the same job the same day you are. This is a social media world we live in. Use that reality to your advantage. The âabout usâ page is about history. Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter are about whatâs happening now. Follow the company and the decision makers to find out what the problems are in their organizations, then position yourself on your resume as the ideal candidate to solve those problems. The resume canât be all #youYouYOU, unless you want to #notNotNOT get a call back. Once you find out whatâs going on in a particular organization, tailor your resume, cover letter, and email messages to the relevant decision makers to suit the businessâ unique situation. Employers are looking to hire candidates who can solve their problems and grow their businesses. Use your resume real estate not for self-congratulatory filler, but to showcase specific achievements that illustrate how you applied your expertise successfully. Just Do The Ugly Cry Iâm talking about the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) resume. Itâs ugly: thereâs no formatting allowed, itâs plainer than plain. No one wants to look at it. But guess what: you need an ATS-friendly resume because statistics say 80% of US employers are using ATS scanning technology to screen resumes. Therefore, if you insist on using a Word resume to apply, the only thing thatâs happening is that itâs getting sucked into the black hole never to be seen by anyone â" ever. Translation: even if you meet every qualification stated in the ad, even if you illustrate accomplishment after accomplishment after accomplishment, and even if you have done all the research you can possibly doâ¦if the resume is not ATS-friendly so the scanners can extract your information, then youâre sunk. End.Of.Discussion. See exactly what to do to find your killer keywords, research the right way, and make your resume ATS-friendly, in our free online master class, âResume ReVamp Version 2.0: 3 Simple Steps To Get Recruiters To Respond â" FAST!â Once you register, you can even submit your resume to be used as an example in the live demonstration.

How do you make a development and fundraising resume?A good resume contains a minimum of five sections, as illustrated by our development and fundraising resume sample. They are the header, professional summary, qualifications, work experience, and education. If you have room, you may add sections for awards and recognitions, and hobbies, provided they are relevant to the job.Spend time crafting a strong professional summary that describes in three or four sentences who you are and what you do. In both the qualifications and experience sections, use bullet points with short statements to enumerate your skills and accomplishments. In the education section, list your degrees in reverse chronological order. Include the name and location of the school or schools you attended.2. How do you list references on a development and fundraising resume? As you can see from our development and fundraising resume sample, you do not need to list references on your resume unless the job posting specifically asks for them. Do not include references available upon request either. Hiring managers assume you will bring references to the interview. If the posting does ask for references, place them at the bottom of the page in their own section. Put the full name, job title, phone number, and email address for each reference.3. Whats the best way to show you work well in a team on a development and fundraising resume?Teamwork is an important part of development and fundraising, so it behooves you to emphasize it in your resume. A great way to do this is to mention in the work experience section opportunities you had to collaborate. Notice in our development and fundraising resume sample that the candidate collaborated and consulted with the Alumni Chapter Executive Board. Other pertinent words you can use are organized, supervised, cooperated, participated, and co-produced.4. What goes in the header of a development and fundraising resume? The header of your resume should contain your full name, address, phone num ber, and email address. If you have professional social media sites or a web page, you may add them here. Be sure to screen your online profiles for anything that is controversial or unprofessional. Study our development and fundraising resume sample for more details.5.
